Overview

ydpy is a command-line interface to the following dictionaries distributed by Young Digital Planet:

• English-Polish and Polish-English Collins dictionary
• Polish-German and German-Polish Langenscheidt dictionary

Example

$ ydpy --pl-en '^słownik$'
słowni|k (-ka -ki) (instr sg  -kiem)
m
(książka) dictionary
(słownictwo) vocabulary
słownik polsko-angielski a Polish-English dictionary

Prerequisites

• Python ≥ 3.3
• lxml ≥ 3.0
• libydpdict
• data files from the original CDs

Extracting data files

There are two ways to extract data files from the original CDs:

• Use the Windows installer, then copy the files from the database subdirectory.

• Use Unshield:

  unshield -L -O x /path/to/cdrom/DATA1.CAB 'Dict[0-9]*'
